Welcome to the new CAMRA Durham website!

CAMRA Durham is proud to launch its new website. This is intended to replace the old, somewhat dated, website with a newer version which is easier both for us to update and for you to find things. If you have any questions, comments or criticisms of the new site, please pass them on to the Webmaster, who will greatly appreciate your feedback.

Hill Island celebrates 10th Anniversary with mini beer festival

Hill Island brewery celebrates its 10th anniversary this Saturday with a mini beer festival at the brewery in Fowler's Yard, Durham. The festival will be open from 2pm to 10pm, with 6 beers available at £2.50 per pint. Takeaway containers, minicasks and bottles will also be available.

A fond farewell for branch stalwarts

Durham CAMRA recently lost two of its stalwart members – Denis and Evelyn Simpson – who have moved from the North East to the South West to be near their daughter. Denis and Evelyn would like to say thank you to all their friends up North with whom they have shared so many happy and interesting times through branch activities. At the end of the branch meeting at The Stables, Beamish Hall, the couple received best wishes for the future from the branch along with some tokens of our appreciation for their active participation over the years – Evelyn is a former Branch Secretary and Denis provided much advice, friendship and wisdom to the branch as well as being an invaluable helper at our beer festivals. Who will remember the jobs that others forget or don’t even think about and who will wash the festival glasses now? Denis will no doubt be a frequent visitor to this website so that he can keep himself and Evelyn in touch with events in their old branch, and we certainly hope that they won’t be strangers in the future, particularly around festival times.
