Town Pub of the Year presentation will be at 7pm on Wednesday 18th April at the Victoria in Durham.
On Thursday 12th April there's an event jointly organised between CAMRA Durham and SPBW (the Society for the Preservation of Beers from the Wood) at the Wicket Gate in Chester-le-Street. Mark Anderson from Maxim will be there and customers will be invited to pull their own pints from 6 pm. As you may know there are a number of real ale outlets in Chester-le-Street including the Cricket Club, Masonic Hall (all welcome), Butchers Arms and Lambton Worm, so it may prove a good opportunity to see what the town has to offer. The town is well served by buses including the 21/X21 from Durham.
The next presentation will be to the Country Pub of the Year for 2018, the Three Horseshoes at Leamside - the certificate to mark their award will be presented at the pub around 8.00pm on Friday 6th April. To help to celebrate the award, the adjacent micro-brewery, Working Hand
We are very pleased to announce that, following several years at Dunelm House, the 38th Durham Beer Festival will take place at Durham City Rugby Club between Wednesday 29th August & Saturday 1st September. Further details will be announced in due course.
A chance to get involved in some of the great work done by the Pubs Group who lead the way in checking what's happening in our area and promoting pubs serving the best. An afternoon pub survey trip to South West Durham has been arranged for Saturday 17th March and it's a chance to score your beers and contribute to which pubs may make in into the Good Beer Guide in the future. The bus will depart at 12noon from Durham and return by 6pm, taking in at least 3 hard-to-get-to pubs.
Branch AGM. All members welcome.
