The Branch will be visiting the Darlington CAMRA Beer Festival on Saturday 21st March. Our plan is to arrive from around 1pm and spend the rest of the day there.
The beer festival is taking place at the Hopetown railway museum the the junction of the A167 (North Road/High Northgate) and McNay St. The postcode is DL3 6SW.
Public transport is either by bus to the Hopetown stop on the A167, served by Arriva services 5 (to/from Bishop Auckland) and 7 (to/from Durham). Note that the NECA day tickets are not valid to Darlington. Single fares will be capped at £3, or if all your buses are Arriva the Arriva-only North East Regionwide is either £10.50 or £18.00 for 2 people travelling together (this may be an app-only ticket). Alternatively, there is a multi-operator "Explorer North East" ticket which covers the whole of the north east and costs £13.80.
Hopetown is also next to the Darlington North Road railway station on the line to Bishop Auckland. Some services may be affected by engineering works. Consult National Rail Enquiries for more information on times and fares.
