Why not have a look at WhatPub?

At the end of September CAMRA launched WhatPub, its own online guide to the pubs of the UK, to the general public. It contains information of in excess of 35,000 pubs which serve real ale in the UK, which it believes represents about 96% of the total.

Good Beer Guide 2014 Available for Pre-Order

It's that time of year again! The latest edition of CAMRA's pub guide is now available for pre-order. The guide features over 4500 of the best real ale pubs around the country, and is officially released on September 12th. Each entry is written and reviewed by CAMRA volunteers. The Guide also contains listings for over 1000 real ale breweries.

The guide can be ordered from the CAMRA website at a cost of £12.99 for non-members and just £10 for members (plus P&P).

Weardale Pub Wins Regional Cider Award

CAMRA Durham is delighted by the news that the 2013 CAMRA North East Regional Cider Pub of The Year title has been won by a Weardale pub.

The Black Lion in Wolsingham won the 2013 CAMRA Durham County Cider Pub of the Year award and was put forward for the regional award, where it faced stiff competition from pubs across North Yorkshire, Cleveland, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland. The pub carries up to eight real ciders at a time, and provides mulled cider in winter.

CAMRA Launches "Fair Deal For Your Local" Campaign

After the success of the Axe The Tax campaign, CAMRA has launched a new campaign aimed at persuading the Government to reform the tied pubco model.

This model requires tenants to buy their beer from the company who owns the pub, meaning tied pubs can only stock a beer if it's offered by their pub company, and only at prices set by the pub company. Pubco tenants also have no independent adjudicator to settle disputes.

The Government is holding a consultation on its proposals, and CAMRA is calling for:

Nominations Open for Pub and Club of the Year 2013

Nominations are now open for the 2013 Durham Branch Pub of the Year, Club of the Year and Cider Pub of the Year. All branch members can take part.

If you would like to make nominations, please contact the Secretary, including your name and membership number and your preferred pub/club for one or more of the following:

  • Pub of the Year 2013 (1st)
  • Pub of the Year 2013 (2nd)
  • Club of the Year 2013
  • Cider Pub/Club of the Year 2013

Nominations will close on December 31st, 2012.

Save your Pint Mass Lobby of Parliament

Save Your Pint As you probably know, the Save Your Pint e-petition reached the 100,000 signatures mark, and triggered a parliamentary debate.

CAMRA Durham 2012 Pub of the Year Results

The CAMRA Durham POTY crown has passed from one former winner (the Surtees Arms, 2010-2011) to another former winner (the Victoria Inn, a winner of many years, most recently 2009). The Club of the Year crown remains with the excellent Chester le Street Cricket Club, now a winner for five years running.
